Project Managers

“I am glad that we don’t have consultants who have to catch a flight on Monday morning.”

Lena, Senior Consultant and Project Manager

  • Why anaptis?

For me, a good relationship with the team and supervisors is most important. I am fortunate to work with kind and helpful colleagues. Additionally, I love that we have short decision-making processes due to our flat hierarchies and no “Authorization Form 38a” processes like in Asterix and Obelix.

  • What does your job look like?

Together with the rest of our ERP team at the respective locations, I help our customers implement and optimize the ERP system Dynamics 365 Business Central (formerly Dynamics NAV/Navision). Since our company has consciously chosen against a specific industry solution and instead opted for a regional, customer-oriented approach, my tasks are particularly varied. For example, I support clients from the food industry, the electronics sector, and the service industry.

In the projects, I handle consulting, programming individual customizations, and providing support for various ERP areas such as production, logistics, marketing, and purchasing.

What is also important to me: In the ERP field, we primarily support companies within one to three hours’ drive from our workplace. I regularly visit my contacts for training or other on-site appointments, if the situation permits, and occasionally work from home. Most of the time, however, I am at my office desk, and I am glad that we don’t have consultants who have to catch a flight or train on Monday morning and only come home on the weekend.

  • How do you like your job?

I particularly enjoy business process analysis and optimization in upgrade or implementation projects, as well as the execution and close contact with users through training and support.

Project management always presents me with new challenges, so my job never gets boring.

  • What did you do before?

Before starting my career, I studied Business Informatics at the University of Ansbach. However, this is absolutely not a must! In our team, we have graduates in Computer Science and Business Informatics from universities and various other colleges, as well as IT specialists who have completed vocational training and therefore do not have a university degree.

At anaptis, less emphasis is placed on having documented skills and knowledge. The focus is on people, not degrees, so we have a diverse range of experiences, talents, and personalities. You will also be given a chance if, for example, you have taught yourself programming skills.

“For me, willingness clearly comes before ability. It’s much more important to enjoy it.”

Daniel N., Senior Consultant and Project Manager

  • Why anaptis?

At the end of 2005, I moved directly from my training company to anaptis. Back then, I was practically the first employee besides the founders since the company was established. What attracted me was the ERP solution, which at that time was still called Navision. I had only heard of it before but never really had the chance to work with it.

Additionally, I enjoyed (and still enjoy) the variety. I mean this both in terms of my field of activity (programming and consulting) and in terms of the workplace. After all, I sometimes work a few days in the office and sometimes on-site at the company – alone or with my team. Overall, it’s a healthy mix.

Moreover, there is the professional variety. Since we are not “industry-bound” with our core clientele, there is a wide range of customer requirements in various business fields. Additionally, the relaxed and collegial tone throughout the team contributes to the overall well-being.

  • What does your job look like?

Together with the rest of our ERP team at the Würzburg and Münster locations, I help our customers implement and optimize the ERP system Dynamics 365 Business Central (formerly Dynamics NAV/Navision).

  • How do you like your job?

Project management always presents me with new challenges, so my job never gets boring.

  • What do your team members need to bring?

In my opinion, developers need a high degree of independence, abstraction ability, accuracy, and a process-oriented perspective. They also need to be well-versed in the core application and constantly force themselves to consider and test the process in the overall context when making adjustments. Despite a lot of mental work, I would consider programming in Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central more as a craft than a science. Practicality is clearly in the foreground. However, the trend is that more specialized professionals are in demand.

Regarding prior knowledge, I would say: Programming skills help – but are not absolutely necessary. “Wanting” clearly comes before “being able” for me. It is much more important to enjoy it. After all, programming makes up a large part of the work. That is much more important than the degree. Just like me, several of my colleagues have dropped out of their studies and, for example, reoriented themselves in dual training in application development. They have since developed into real programming and consulting talents.

Developer and Consultants

“I like the mix of development and consulting.”

Eva, Consultant

  • Why anaptis?

I initially did a short internship as a career changer (back then with Infosim GmbH & Co. KG). It was such a hit for me that I immediately transitioned into a full-time job.

Why? The friendly colleagues and the varied work made this step easy for me. Additionally, the mix of consulting and development hit the mark for me.

I can highlight the onboarding process positively: On the one hand, I could actively observe and on the other hand, I learned through self-study or my own training with provided resources. This quickly made me proficient in Dynamics 365 Business Central and the associated programming languages, enabling me to independently implement requirements swiftly.

  • What does your job look like?

In my job as a consultant, I am involved in both consulting and development. What I really love is the mix of both worlds. On one side, I am in personal contact with our clients, which I enjoy a lot. On the other side, I develop in focused individual work. At any time, I can count on helpful colleagues. This way, I face a colorful bouquet of challenges every day: Logical and technical ones in programming, as well as procedural and communicative ones in consulting.

  • How do you like your job?

The team cohesion here is great. At my location in Würzburg, the interactions are very warm and friendly.

Additionally, purely in terms of organization, I find the company size with communication at eye level very pleasant. Everyone is allowed to contribute ideas and is heard.

“The overall package is right for me. I feel very comfortable.”

Sina, Senior Developer

  • Why anaptis?

At that time, I was actively looking for a new employer and went through a marathon of job interviews. The company anaptis stood out to me right away because of their modern website. The interview with Markus Thyen was by far the most pleasant. The communication was very honest and appreciative, yet totally relaxed. I felt like I could say anything that was important to me, like what I expect from my employer.

The second interview was great too. I then asked for an on-site meeting in Würzburg to get to know my (hopefully) future colleagues, at least for a first impression. Even after that, my gut feeling was so good! When I got the job offer, I was thrilled.

  • What does your job look like?

My job can roughly be divided into 60 % development (projects), 20 % support (existing customers), and 20 % consulting. That means I do have customer or consulting appointments sometimes (also on-site for workshops), but I mostly work as a developer for ongoing customer projects.

I get the project tasks from my project manager. We briefly discuss the requirements, and then I can start. I usually take support tickets myself or they are assigned to me. I can mostly organize my day by myself. Of course, there are tasks with deadlines or urgent support issues. But I am given so much trust that I can prioritize the tasks myself. If I’m unsure, I just ask my project manager.

  • How do you like your job?

I really enjoy my job. Of course, there are days when I just want to turn off my computer right away. But where isn’t that the case? The overall package is right for me. I feel very comfortable in my team and generally at the Würzburg location.

The leadership style of my team leader, Lena, is perfect for me. She is both personally and professionally very competent. And when the personal fit is right, the job is even more fun.

froning-rene

The tasks are very diverse and the team is unique.”

René, Developer (former trainee)

  • Why anaptis?

During the interview and trial work, I quickly gained the impression that my wishes and ideas were taken into account. In addition, the collegial atmosphere immediately struck me as positive. Because I was immediately warmly received and my many questions were gladly answered.

  • What does your job look like?

My day-to-day work is quite varied, as I am assigned different tasks. Sometimes I implement customizations for our customers and sometimes I work independently on my own smaller projects. In the same way, I actively communicate with our customers to solve various support cases. So I never know in the morning exactly what to expect on my workday. So the work is quite varied.

  • How was your apprenticeship?

My tasks were also very different during my training. I can’t even begin to list the projects that I worked on or that I managed on my own. The one I remember most is a solution for mobile devices that makes our Microsoft Dynamics NAV product clearly displayed on mobile devices and easy to use. This is because I worked on this project off and on for months and was able to implement my own ideas. Through this project I came into contact with many programming languages.

  • How do you like your job?

I really like working here. I like the relationship with my colleagues best. In addition, the flat hierarchy means that even experienced team members are always open to suggestions and ideas, which gives you a good feeling. What’s more, everyone is up for a joke, which really lightens up the overall atmosphere in the office.

erdmann-fabian

“To this day, I am very happy with my job at anaptis.”

Fabian, Developer (former trainee)

  • Why anaptis?

I was looking for an apprenticeship company at the time and came across anaptis. Even the job interview was very warm-hearted. I immediately felt well taken care of. The prompt further communication, including an invitation to a trial work, also left a positive impression on me.

To this day, I am very happy with my job at anaptis. The compensation is absolutely fair. And the flexibility is very valuable! I can decide for myself whether I work at one of the locations or from home. After coordinating with my team, I can tailor my working hours to my rhythm. Outside of work, I occasionally do something with my colleagues in my free time.

  • What does your job look like?

Part of my job is consulting with clients. However, I am mostly involved in developing new customizations for existing and new clients, as well as maintaining existing code for current clients. This focus came about because I expressed my preference for it in my takeover interview, and my interests and needs were taken into account.

Occasionally, I also assist with workshops, but this is done on my own initiative. Developers are not expected or required to do this.

  • How was your apprenticeship?

Overall, my apprenticeship was really great. I was warmly welcomed from day one and immediately became part of the team. I was introduced very well to new topics (which still applies today). In the end, I was very happy to receive the offer of permanent employment.

You can learn more about Fabian’s apprenticeship here.

  • How do you like your job?

I am well integrated into the company and have really great colleagues. We treat each other fairly and on an equal footing, fostering a good working environment. This is mainly due to the flat hierarchies.

I am very familiar with my area of work. I enjoy the tasks, although like in any job, there are tasks that are less enjoyable. Of course, there are busier and less busy times. Overall, the working atmosphere is relaxed because we help each other even in busier periods. I really appreciate being introduced to different areas of responsibility by supporting my colleagues in their tasks. This not only expands my personal knowledge but also strengthens team spirit and helps our clients. It’s also worth mentioning that I am supported through training when needed.

Another aspect I like: My work-life balance. Since the beginning, my job has allowed me to pursue my volunteer work alongside it. So, I am completely satisfied.

“Understanding and consideration for my disability are invaluable.”

Friederike, Consultant

  • Why anaptis?

Due to my disability, I was previously limited to job opportunities within my vicinity. As the option of working from home became increasingly popular and widespread, I was able to apply for positions regardless of location over time.

This is how I came across the consultant position at anaptis. From the very beginning of our conversation, we were on the same wavelength. I had and still have the feeling that we can have discussions on an equal footing. Additionally, the conditions simply fit. For example, I could also choose my area of responsibility. Here, every individual is truly considered.

  • What does your job look like?

In my role as a consultant, my main tasks include designing, programming, and maintaining the internal ERP system. Additionally, I also program for clients and support colleagues as needed.

  • How do you like your job?

It’s an absolute match – my colleagues and the working atmosphere are perfect for me. I love the mix of programming, consulting, and internal exchange.

What is also not to be taken for granted and incredibly important to me: due to my age and disability, my performance is not always consistent. The understanding and consideration for this are invaluable to me.

IT-Infrastructure

schmitt-julien

„Everyone counts in our small team.“

Julien, Technical Consultant (former apprentice)

  • Why anaptis?

I deliberately chose a smaller company for my training because challenging tasks and independent work were and still are very important to me. My expectation that all employees count in a small team and that you can contribute your own ideas quickly came true, which I really like.

  • What does your job look like?

My daily tasks are very varied. They range from looking after and configuring servers and the network, planning and procuring the IT infrastructure to supporting employees and our customers. I work both at my workplace at anaptis (two-person office) and on site at the customer’s premises.

  • How do you like your job?

I already enjoyed my work during my apprenticeship. My apprenticeship brings new challenges every day. Be it system errors or other faults – it never gets boring and remains varied. There are always new developments in the technical field, so you never really stop learning. The working environment is also brilliant. Depending on the time of year, we have a barbecue together, spend Friday evenings in the old town or play table football together in our “ana-con bar”.

  • What would you like to give people who are considering an apprenticeship with us?

It is important to have an affinity for computers and to enjoy working as a problem solver. As a trainee in the technical field, you should also be open to change, as technical possibilities are constantly evolving and it is important to stay up to date.

  • You did your training at anaptis. What prospects did you have for the time afterwards?

It was explained to me at the interview that they train for their own needs. This gave me a good sense of self-esteem. During my training, I was able to work independently and make my own decisions, which made it easy for me to transition into everyday working life as a trained employee. Today, my job title is Technical Consultant. My area of responsibility has expanded somewhat by advising our customers on how to optimize their hardware. In the near future, my area of responsibility will expand further, as I will be able to share my knowledge and experience with new trainees, which I am really looking forward to!

Marketing, Communication & Sales

“I am catered to individually, and the flexibility is great.”

Sven, Branch Manager and Sales Consultant

  • Why anaptis?

Even before I started, I noticed that the startup spirit has been preserved here despite years of experience. Besides the opportunity to contribute my skills and motivation to the company, I was also convinced by the good relationship with colleagues and the partnership approach to working with customers.

Regarding bringing ideas: My experience has shown me that even if the job posting doesn’t match 100 %, it’s always worth getting in touch with anaptis. Because the position of branch manager only emerged through the exchange in the job interview with the two managing directors. An expansion towards northern Germany had been planned for some time to offer local colleagues and current and future customers spatial proximity with local contact persons.

  • What does anaptis offer compared to previous employers?

anaptis stands out mainly due to its short decision-making processes and the freedoms for each team member to shape their workday how and where they want.

Like in larger companies, there are great development and career opportunities here, as well as additional offers. But I think it’s not the quantity of offers that’s important, but rather the focus on the individual needs of employees, and that’s the case at anaptis.

Moreover, I experienced the work atmosphere at previous employers as more distant. There was sometimes a sense of competition among colleagues. I’m glad to have separated from that. Today, I’m in direct contact with our management, can promptly bring in suggestions that are actually heard and accepted. Overall, I feel that here at anaptis, they cater more individually to me and my needs, and the flexibility is significantly greater.

  • How do you like your job?

I really enjoy working at anaptis. The customers I have met so far are very satisfied with anaptis’ work and the project teams. That speaks for itself.

The colleagues are motivated and committed and always take the time to help if I have a question. In addition to the project teams, there are also social teams where daily exchanges and support take place. Information (e.g., news in development for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power Platform, or DevOps) is shared with everyone on the dedicated Teams channels.

neuhaus-johanna2

“In our team, everyone supports each other. At all times.”

Johanna, Team Assistant

  • Why anaptis?

What I liked in the job interview was the open exchange. For example, I was asked about which topics I enjoy the most. So, I felt that they weren’t just looking for someone who meets the requirements of the position, but also considering what strengths and/or development opportunities I bring.

Even after the interview, I always quickly received an answer to any questions, and this initial impression was confirmed in the further work routine due to the short decision-making processes.

Lastly, I really liked the appearance on social media and the website. I had the feeling that this could be a team I would like to work with, where everyone supports each other – and that’s exactly how it was from day one.

  • What does your job entail?

As a team assistant, I have regular contact with the entire team, which I really enjoy. I take care of accounting, personnel, and organizational matters in our office routine or special events like our annual summer and Christmas parties.

  • How do you like your job?

I really enjoy my job. Due to the many different topics I deal with every day, it never gets boring. I also appreciate the collaboration with colleagues, whether it’s with marketing, sales, or project teams. Initially, this helped me quickly get to know the various areas of the company. Everyone is receptive and helps me with challenging issues.
