Microsoft Fabric helps you to centrally manage, protect, and use data in a compliant manner. Governance and compliance features are built directly into the platform; they are defined centrally and applied to Fabric elements – based on classifications, among other factors – regardless of the workload you’re working on.
Using Microsoft Purview, which is integrated into Fabric, you can centrally manage sensitivity labels, policies, and additional governance features at the data level. These settings are applied consistently across OneLake – where supported – and are maintained even when data is shared across tenants or used in different Fabric workloads. Please note that not all Microsoft Purview features are freely available; some require a separate Microsoft Purview license.
The central OneLake Catalog provides insights into governance status, as well as recommendations for improving governance, suggested actions, and compliance adherence – all designed to give you greater confidence and control over your data across the entire organization.
